TOUGH DAY REWARDED WITH ANOTHER PODIUM

Canada Heights was the venue for round 2 of the ACU Maxxis British 2 stroke championship. After a great opening round the team was looking for another solid points haul towards the championship chase.

Qualifying got underway first thing and Ash was able to get up to speed early on posting a time good enough for 2nd in the early stages. After posting a some good laps Ash wasn’t quite able to find that little bit extra and rounded the session in 2nd with a good gate pick going into the races.

The gate dropped for race 1 and Ash didn’t get the jump out of the gate and was swallowed up down the start straight, Ash rounded the first turn outside the top 15. Making some good passes early on Ash moved his way into the top 10 by the end of lap one and kept on fighting through the field to eventually cross the line in 3rd position after a hard thought battle all race long.

Race 2 Ash was able to make a better start and this time made his way into 4th by the end of the opening lap. The pace at the front of the race was high and after a few laps finding his lines and getting settled in the race Ash was able to pass both Bradshaw and Kras and move into second at the half way point. Ash kept his head down but Dunn was able to get away early on and Ash was unable to make and in roads into his lead crossing the line in 2nd.

3-2 was today’s scorecard for the team giving Ash 3rd overall on the day 1 point off 2nd. Ash still sits 2nd in the championship just 7 points of the championship lead.

Ashley’s comments- Today was a difficult day, I made it hard work for myself after getting two bad starts and having to battle all race. Overall I’m happy to be on the podium again but I want to be challenging for wins. We will get back to work in the coming weeks to be ready for Blaxhall where we can hopefully challenge for the top step.

RMJ (Team Manager)- All in all another good day racing. Qualifying was solid, unfortunately some bad starts made it difficult on a track that is hard to pass on. Ash did a great job in race one fighting through the field to salvage a top 3 after starting outside the top 15. Race 2 again he thought through for another solid 2nd, I’m sure with some better starts at Blaxhall he will be ready to contend for that top step of the podium.

The teams next outing will be Rd 3 at Blaxhall pits on may 6th.
