BRITISH MAXXIS ROUND 3

April 27th, 2011

This weekend was rd 3 of the maxxis British Championship… The track was in perfect condition and the sun was shining…
Qualifying went ok ending the session in 17th which wasn’t too bad as all the times was really close…
Race 1 I had a problem on the sighting lap… When the gate dropped I wasn’t 100% focussed on the race… Never the less I got a bad start and rode pretty tight ending the race in 16th…
Race 2 I got another terrible start… I rode good the first few laps but then I got stuck in a rhythm and wasn’t making the passes to move forward… On the last lap I tried to pass a rider for 15th and I ended up making a mistake and losing a spot and finishing the race in 17th… Going into
Race 3 I knew I needed a better start… I did get a better start but I was only mid pack… The first few laps again I was clever and moved into 13th… I was riding better and was pushing onto the riders in front… About 14 mins in I made a silly mistake on a corner and dropped it.. I kept the motor running and got up to bring it home in 13th… Overall I was 15th on the day which was good but I defiantly could of done better.. I am still 19th in the championship with 40 points…
I’m really looking forward to next weekend for the British masters…

BRITISH MAXXIS CANADA HTS ROUND 2

March 29th, 2011

Qualifying… The track was really smooth and the ground was pretty hard therefore everybody was going fast as it wasn’t really very technical.. I managed to put an ok time in and ended up with 24th…
Race one… I got a terrible start off the concrete… The track was still a bit smooth and I wasn’t really enjoying it… About half way through the race I got a bit more comfortable with the track and started to get in a rhythm and got myself into 20th. On the last lap I was right behind 19th and I was pushing to make the pass… Unfortunately I made a stupid mistake and stalled the bike dropping me down to 21st…
Race two… I wasn’t very happy with race one and I knew I could do better as I started to get going at the end of the race… Again I didn’t get the best of starts and was mid pack on the first lap.. The track was a bit rougher now and suited me more and I managed to fight through to 16th at the flag…
Race three… The track was rough and technical now so I was looking forward to the race… Again another bad start really let me down but in the first 5 laps I Was really aggressive and made some really good passes… Towards the end of the race I kept my pace and was still racing hard to the flag where I ended up 12th…
Overall on the day… I ended up 16th which is ok but it could have been better if I got things together in the first race… I am happy with my fitness and speed just need to work on my starts so hopefully I will get better from here… I have moved up to 19th in the championship now after having two no scoring rides so hopefully I can keep getting points on the table and climb up to the top 15 in points

HAWKSTONE INTERNATIONAL

March 21st, 2011

This weekend was the Hawkstone international.. The track was in perfect condition and prepped sweet!
Qualifying went ok finishing 20th but I knew I could do better in the races.. Race one I got a good start and was sat in 14th a couple of laps in.. 15mins into the race the race had to be stopped due to an injured rider with the result standing and me finishing 14th…
Race two I got an ok start and was mid pack… I rode good and battled through… The track was pretty rough at this time with a few sketchy places… I managed to pull through to 14th again which was a good result… Overall I was 16th but had the same points as 13th place… Overall I was happy and my result qualified me for the super final…
Super final I went out and had fun but unfortunately fell off on the first lap which dropped me back… There were a few people crashing out which enabled me to creep up to 16th at the finish… Overall I had a really good day and was happy with the result… Next week is round 2 of the British championship so hopefully I can have a good weekend there…

BRITISH MASTERS ROUND 1

March 15th, 2011

This weekend was the first round of the British masters championship.. Qualifying went well except on the two good laps I managed to get in there was a rider who somehow appeared to get in the way both times on the last corner which cost me some time. I ended up 13th which wasn’t as bad as the times were pretty close. After qualifying I decided to enter mx1 as well as the track was in pretty good condition.
Race one mx2
I got an average start and was battling for the first few laps. After about 7 mins into the race I was in 10th place on my own with no riders behind me and the pack of riders just in front was too far in front so I was riding round on my own and not very well. I had a little bit of tingling in my arms and fingers which wasn’t too good but I brought it home in 10th.
Race one mx1
I got an average start as I was a little under powered. The first few laps I was really aggressive and was passing people for fun. I was riding much better than the other race and was flowing nicely. At the finish I ended up 6th.
Race two mx2
I ended up in big pile up in the second turn and went down quite hard hurting my arm pretty bad as someone’s rear wheel was spinning on it. I ended up not finishing the race.
Race 2 mx1
The final race of the day and I was in a little bit of pain but I knew once I started racing the pain would go away. Again another terrible start but I managed to work my way through the pack well making some really good passes. I got myself up to 7th which was good enough for 5th overall which was a good finish to the day. Next weekend is Hawkstone International so I’m really looking forward to mixing it up there. Ash #704

LITTLE SILVER MAXXIS ROUND ONE

March 9th, 2011

This weekend was the first round of the maxxis British championship… When arriving at the track it was in perfect condition… I was really looking forward to racing as I had been working really hard physically and putting the hours in on the bike… Qualifying went ok and I ended up 26th. The lap times were very close and I knew in the race I would be faster and stronger than allot of people who beat me.
Race one
I got a terrible start but I did well round the first few corners to move to the middle of the pack. I was riding good and worked my way up to 17th when another rider went down in front of me causing me to hit him and get held up dropping a few positions which was a bit of a shame. I managed to get going again and pulled through to 16th which wasn’t too bad.
Race two
I was mid pack off the start. I battled hard through the race passing some good riders and managing to grab 17th on the last lap. Again it was an ok result but I knew I could do a bit better if I got a better start.
Race three
And again I got an average start. The sun was really low making it very difficult to see. I took my time getting in to the race but began to pass a few people working my way up to 16th when unfortunately my bike decided to let go. It was a shame because my riding was good and it would have been nice to come away with 3 point scoring rides. But I suppose that’s motocross. I’m really happy with my fit was and my speed seems to be good so I’m looking forward to the races coming up. Thanks to all the people who have been helping me and getting everything ready to race. Also a big thanks to Alistair (Sandbach Scrap Metal) my new main sponsor for getting the bikes going and looking real good. Thanks Ash #704

WILDEN WINTER ROUND

November 25th, 2010

This weekend I decided to have a ride up to Wilden lane. The track was the same as usual and looking pretty good. It was a wet in places but nothing too bad there was a few good riders there on the bigger bikes riding 450s and 250 2 stroke so I knew it was going to be hard on a 250f especially being a bit deep in places but I new I still could win.
Race one I got a good start and was 3rd. I had a few corners banging bars with Richard Cannings. Unfortunately my front brake hose got caught on his bars causing it to snap leaving me with no front brake and later to have a little crash. I got back up and thought back to 3rd place and was right behind the two leaders with about 3 laps to go a stone was flicked up from the rider in front and hit me in the face cutting my face and gum and busting my lip. It was a bit of a shock and I backed off a little with having no brake as well I decided to settle for 3rd.
Race 2 I really wanted to win. I got a good start again and rode ok but I had a little bit of trouble with the gears on my bike but managed to win.
Race 3 I decided to go out on my Yamaha which is what I have been riding and really enjoy riding. i got the worst start of the day and was 5th on the first lap. I put my head down and charged up to the front and won again to take the overall on the day. It was a good day really and also my new sponsor Alister and his wife Carol from Sandbach scrap metal came watching. It was just a shame about the first race, but that’s racing. Ash #704

Whiterose Fatcats

November 11th, 2010

I have recently sorted a new team for next year and I will be riding for Alistair at Sandbach Scrap Metal. I was given a Kawasaki of Alistair to ride last weekend. I have ridden it once last week before this race and the bike is awesome. My shoulder feels good I am just lacking a bit of fitness. The track was in perfect condition and I was really looking forward to racing.
Race one didn’t go to plan as I was in 3rd place and a stone got into the chain and snapped some teeth off the sprocket causing the chain to come off. I was gutted but looking forward to race 2 as I felt good on the bike.
Race two i got a good start and came out of the first turn in 2nd. I made a good pass into the lead. I then had a good battle with Jack Rowland’s but I managed to bring it home with a win.
Race three my confidence was high and I pulled a sweet hole shot. I put some good laps in and managed to get a little lead. I rode good and managed to win again. It was a good fun day and the meeting was ran well so I’m looking forward to doing the next rounds. Ash #704

END OF YEAR

November 5th, 2010

The season is over now and I have just got back from a top holiday with my mates. The shoulder is feeling good now and I have had a bit of treatment on it and its all good and I’m ready to do some riding again now. Overall it hasn’t been a great season for me after having my operation early in the year. But there have been some good races for me and hopefully next year I will be able to string all the best races together. I would just like to say a big thanks everyone who has helped me this year. my Mum, Dad and Kirstie, Martin at Sprint Motors for Spannering for me all year, Owen and Heather at Manchester xtreme, Mark at muk junkie race cleaner, Neil at pro-action and everyone else who has helped throughout the year THANKS . Blaxhall pits U23

November 5th, 2010

I was really looking forward to this weekend as it is one of my favourite tracks. When arriving at the track it was in good condition but shortly after arriving the heavens opened and stayed raining till the next morning. The track was pretty wet and the organisers did their best to get the track up to scratch.
Qualifying went well and it was a little bit wet but it was the same for everyone. At the end of the session I ended up 7th which was fine. Going into the first race the track was still pretty wet.
Race One I got a bad start but was good in the first two turns and was up into the top 10. About 3 corners in the rider in front of me got a little bit squirley and I clipped his back wheel going quite fast and went down pretty hard on my shoulder. I got up and was a bit numb and I knew something wasn’t right. The weekend was over for me which I was gutted about as I liked the track. After being home and getting it checked out I found out I dislocated my collarbone and stretched the tendons. I have been told to rest for 6 weeks so that’s what I will do as the season is over anyways and I go on holiday in 2 weeks so plenty of time for rest. Ash #704

Red Bull Wakes

November 5th, 2010

This weekend was a weekend off for me so I decided to pack my van up and go and stay at my friends house James Cottrell’s and get myself booked in for the last round of the red bull pro nationals. The track was in perfect condition when we arrived.
Qualifying didn’t really go to plan as I was on my own I forgot to put my transponder on so I had to race back and put that on, then when I went out I was riding good but my times needed to be a little bit faster.
Race one I got an ok start and rode good. I had an awesome battle with James and another friend of mine Lewis tombs. I finished 24th out of everyone and 12th in mx2. Going in to race 2 I knew I could do better.
Race two I got another average start and was doing good and moved up into 11th in mx2 when my bike started to feel really funny and slow and really strange on jumps so I pottered round to the pits and after a bit of a nose around the bike I noticed the brake had stuck on there was a stone in the pedal so we removed it. By the time I realised it the race was other so I just watched from the line. Overall the weekend was good for me. It was nice to chill out and have some fun. Ash #704
