LYNG MAXXIS

July 28th, 2009

Hi everyone… This weekend was the rd 5 of British maxxis championship at lyng.
Qualifying went well and I got a good time in early and managed 29th.
Race one I got an ok start and was running 20th and felt comfortable battling until the race got red flagged on lap 3. The restart wasn’t too good for me and I was more towards the back of the pack. About 5 laps into the race I got tangled up with another rider and fell off. As a result of the crash I snapped my front brake hydraulic cable leaving me with no front brake causing me to pull off.
Race Two I was really looking to get some points as I was gutted with the way race one went. Once again I got an average start and about 10 mins into the race I had a good rhythm and was running 17th. I held it for most of the race until 4 laps from the end I made a stupid little mistake on a corner and fell off. By the time I got going again I had dropped to 20th. I was gutted but I managed to bring it home in 20th to get a point so it wasn’t too bad. Overall it was an up and down weekend but I’m glad to have scored a point ASH #82

BLAXHALL PITS BRITISH MMX

June 29th, 2009

Hi everyone… This weekend was the MMX British open championship for me… Qualifying went ok and i ended up 19th… it wasn’t to bad as all the times was really close..

Race 1 I got caught up in a first turn crash, I didn’t get caught up for too long and managed to get going right away and I was lucky there was another crash on turn two so I found myself in the middle of the pack.. I rode good and pushed up to 12th.

Race 2 I got an ok start and was riding good on the first lap pushing forward until unfortunately I collided with another rider and went down on a corner. I couldn’t get restarted until everyone had gone past so I had to set off right at the back. I put my head down and pushed forward to finish 14th which I was happy about. Overall on the day I ended up 12th overall and moved back up to 16th in championship as I missed the last round. Overall it was a good weekend for me and I hope I can carry on. Ash #82

HAWKSTONE MAXXIS

June 25th, 2009

hawkstone-042Hi everyone… This weekend was the maxxis British championship at Hawkstone park. When we arrived at the track it was perfect and probably the best prepared I have seen it for a long time. Qualifying on Sunday morning didn’t go to plan really, when the board turned for timed training i had a problem with my clutch so therefore I had to pull off and swap bikes loosing time to get a quick lap in early as the track gets rougher each lap. I managed to get a time in and ended up 28th which was ok.
First race i got an ok start and was riding ok and I got myself up to 20th after about 10 minutes and I stayed there up until 2 laps to go when Jamie Lewis passed me. I ended up 21st which I was gutted about as I really wanted to score a point.
Race 2 again i got another ok start and was battling through but 3 laps in i lost my back brake, I tried to carry on for a couple of laps but I was really struggling coming down the big hill. On lap 6 I had to pull out of the race. I was gutted about the weekend really as wanted to get some points. my next big race is the British four stroke at Blaxhall pits. Hopefully i will have a better weekend there. Ash #82

BRITISH MASTERS PONTRILAS

May 14th, 2009

Hi everyone… this weekend was another free weekend for me so I decided again to do the 3rd round of the British Masters at Pontrilas. I decided to do this just to get practice racing.
Qualifying went well as the track was really slippery as a lot of water went down on the track. I ended up 19th which was good as there were a lot more good riders there than normal.
First race I got a ok start and was running in the top 20. I was riding good and battling through in a group. I managed to get up to 15th and got stuck behind Lloyd Vercueil for about 10 minutes. I was trying everything to pass him but just couldn’t get by him. With 2 laps to go I put a big push into pass him and on one of the rutted out corners at the top of the track I unfortunately caught my foot on a rut and twisted my knee. The pain was there straight away and there was no way I could have done another lap so I had to pull off. I took my braces off and my knee had swollen and was still hurting so I didn’t make it out in the second race which was a bummer. I was gutted about hurting my knee as I was riding good and felt strong. I’m going to get it rested this week and take it easy ready for rd 3 of the British four stroke in 2 weeks time. Ash #82

BRAMPTON MAXXIS

May 8th, 2009

Hi everyone.. This weekend was rd3 of the maxxis British championship. The track was in perfect condition and looked awesome as a lot of work had been put into it.
Qualifying went well but it was quite hard to get a clear lap because there were so many people out there. I ended up 29th which was ok as I normally struggle a bit to do one fast lap.
Race one I got a terrible start but managed to make up a few positions in the first few corners. By the 3rd lap I was in a tight pack of about 10 riders and I was running around 20th when I made a little mistake coming out of one of the corners and stalled it. Luckily it was just before a hill so I managed to roll to the hill then bump it. Unfortunately I lost loads of positions because everyone was running so close. I rode ok and managed to get up to 23rd.
Race 2 I got a bad start again and the first few laps I found it really hard to get going and I wasn’t riding very well. 10-15 mins in and I got into a bit of a rhythm and began to race and pick of the riders. By the end of the race I finished 22nd. I was a bit gutted I didn’t make the top 20 this weekend as I really liked the track. Next weekend I am at Pontrilas for the British Masters which I’m looking forward to as it’s a good track. Ash #82

BRITISH MASTERS DEAN MOOR

April 22nd, 2009

Hi everyone.. This weekend was a free weekend for me so we decided to race rd 2 of the British Masters at dean moor. Qualifying on Sunday morning was wet and slick as they soaked it with water. I struggled to get a good lap in as I wasn’t using the right lines for the slippery conditions. I ended up 17th which I wasn’t too happy with.
Race one I got a really good jump of the gate and got a good start. First few laps were ok but about 10mins in I got really bad arm pump and was struggling to hold on. I managed to ride through it and finish 12th. I was a bit gutted because I knew if I didn’t get arm pump I could have finished inside the top 10.
Race two I got a bad start as they dropped the gate straight away and I wasn’t ready. By this time in the day the track was starting to get dry and the first few laps the dust was quite bad it took me a little bit to get going but by about half way I started to feel good and all my lines was working well. The last 10mins I was passing people quite easy and began moving up the leader board. With 2 laps to go I managed to get Phil Mercer for 10th and set my sight on Glen Philips. He just managed to beat me to the finish by half a second. I was happy with the last race as I felt confident towards the end and didn’t get tired at all. I ended up 10th overall on the day which was good to get up there as there were some good riders in mx1. My next race is in 2 weeks at Brampton for rd 3 of the maxxis which I’m looking forward to. MILDENHALL MMX

April 6th, 2009

mildenhall20mmx202481

Hi everyone.. This weekend was rd 2 of the mmx British fourstroke championship. The track was perfect and there was a lot of water put down to keep the dust down. Qualifying didn’t go to plan as when they turned the board for timed my roll off canister smashed so I had to pull in the pits for some fresh goggles as the track was a little damp. I managed to get some laps in and finished 19th which wasn’t too bad as all the times was really close. Race one I got a good jump off the gate and came out of the first turn in 10th! Best start of the year! First 10miniutes of the race I rode really well and got myself up to 6th.  I stayed there for a few laps then Neville Bradshaw got me and stayed in 7th for most of the race. Last few laps I got bad arm pump as I think I was a little bit nervous and made loads of mistakes and I ended up finishing 9th which I was happy with. Race 2 I got another good start but on the second corner I got caught up in a pile up causing me to set off way down. I struggled to make time up as I got caught up behind everyone in the first few laps. I managed to get up to 17th which wasn’t too bad after a crash. Overall I got 14th and moved up to 17th in the championship. This weekend was a good weekend for me and I can’t wait for the rest of the season. ASH#82

Maxxis Round 2 Langrish

March 24th, 2009

Hi everyone.. This weekend was the second round of the Maxxis British championship at Langrish. When we arrived at the track it was very dry and looked baked as if they hadn’t had rain for a long time. By the time Sunday morning came the organisers managed to get some water down. Qualifying was a bit of a struggle as the track was very, very fast. I managed to qualify 35th which wasn’t great but after the first lap of riding the track I knew it was going to be a struggle as I didn’t like the track at all. It was fast rock hard and very dry.

First race I didn’t get the best of starts and was buried at the back of the pack not being able to see nothing because of the dust. i didn’t ride very well and didn’t feel comfy on the track as I couldn’t get going. I ended up finishing 27th which wasn’t a great result.

Race two was the same situation but the dust was three times as bad. i rode a bit better and got into a bit more of a flow but I still didn’t feel confident to really push myself as I really didn’t like the track. By the end of the race i finished 25th. i am glad this weekend is over injury free and I can look forward to the next round at Brampton where hopefully I can grab some points again. Ash #82

Weekend Off!

March 16th, 2009

ash-bielbyHi everyone…

This weekend was a weekend off from the big races.
Saturday we went to Doncaster to practice for the day. We had a good day and the track was nice and dry.

After practicing we set off to Bielby to do a club race with the white rose mxc. The track was perfect just a little damp in places. The track got real rough and rutty at the end of the day and I really enjoyed it. My riding was good and I felt confident and won all 3 races comfortably. I was happy with my riding and can’t wait for Round 2 of the British championship next weekend. I would like to say well done to white rose mxc for putting on such a good meeting this weekend.

Maxxis Round 1 – Canada Heights

March 10th, 2009

ashcanadaheights

This weekend was the first round of the maxxis British championship at Canada Heights. We arrived at the track on Saturday and it was looking in pretty good condition. It had been prepped well and was just a little damp in places. The competition this year in the mx1 class is very tough and I knew the first round would be one of the hardest as everyone is ready to go.

Qualifying went well and I managed to get a good lap in early and finished 28th at the end of the session. I was happy with my time and position as qualifying isn’t one of my strongest points.

The first race I got a terrible start and was one of the last few round the first corner. I managed to make some places up early. At the end of the first 5mins I was sitting around 25th and was riding good. I had some good lines and was getting more confident with the big ruts on the track. I started picking the riders off in front and felt good. By the end of the race I worked my way up to 18th scoring 3 points! I was really happy to get some points on the board. Towards the end of our first race it started to drizzle and just after the finish the heavens opened and it lashed it down. The rain did quite allot of damage to the track and filled the ruts with water.

Going in to second race I knew just needed to stay on and keep riding till the end. race 2 I got a better jump of the gate and was in good shape round the first corner but two corners later and someone fell off right in front of me causing me to come to a standstill causing me to lose so many places. Everyone was crashing everywhere and the first lap was carnage. I got myself into a rhythm and kept my head and just kept knocking the laps off and ended up finishing 19th scoring 2 points! Overall I am really happy with the weekend finishing 22nd overall an getting 5 points. This weekend has really helped my confidence and i can’t wait for the rest of the year for some better results!
